5-Year Master Plan for New Chicago Parks Department Public Meeting
Save the date! January 24th from 7pm to 8pm (or later depending on attendance) we will be holding another public hearing for the citizens of New Chicago, Hobart, Lake Station, and Unincorporated Hobart to be able to speak regarding our 5-Year Master Plan that will be submitted to the Indiana DNR.
Creating this master plan will help us be able to go after grants at the state and federal levels to help fund improvements for the parks in our town. To do this though, we need your help!
We look forward to seeing citizens from any of those areas at this public hearing or any of our monthly meetings.
Thank you for taking the time to consider coming to this.
Joe Bachman
New Chicago Parks Board President

Water Main Break
There is a water main break on the west end of Lake Station in the New Chicago Water System. The break has been found but it will still be a couple of hours for repairs. Residents in the area of 29th, Utah, Oklahoma and other surrounding streets may experience low water pressure over the next several hours while this is fixed.
The New Chi Parks & Rec Department in conjunction with the Lake Station-New Chicago Public Library is presenting a free reading of The Beauty & The Beast. For more details, please click here.
REACH Alert Now Available
Town of New Chicago Residents,
We understand the importance of communicating with you and ensuring that we keep you in the loop regarding events affecting the Town of New Chicago. As a result, we are pleased to announce that we are initiating a new notification service called REACH Alert.
This new service will allow us to immediately share important information regarding a number of items, including waterline breaks/boil water advisories, power outages, road closures/delays due to construction or accidents, hazmat situations, AMBER/Silver alerts, police actions, and civic events.
As good as this service is, if you don’t register, we can’t share important information with you in a quick and timely manner. You can decide if you want a text, voice call, or an email. Each household can register up to 4 phone numbers and 4 email addresses. All you need to do is:
- Go to www.reachalert.com and click on Sign Up in the upper right-hand corner.
- In the Network Name field, type New Chicago (click on our name when it appears).
- Follow the prompts and enter your preferred contact information. When you enter your address, click on it when it appears in the drop-down list.
If you opted to receive text alerts and/or emails, Reach Alert will send a confirmation message to your cell phone or email immediately upon completion of your registration. If you do not receive this message, please call Reach Alert.
If you do not have access to a computer or if you experience any difficulty registering, please contact REACH Alert at (877) 307-9313.
Thank you,
Town of New Chicago
