Welcome to the New Chicago Police Department page! Below is some helpful information on what services our police department provides:

We are unable to dispatch from our department. For emergencies, please call 911. For non-emergencies, please call 219-660-0001. The Police Clerk can be contacted at 219-962-1550. The Traffic Clerk can be contacted at 219-755-3620.

All fees are CASH ONLY:

  • Salvage VIN Check: $100.00
  • VIN Check: $5.00
  • Tow Release: $100.00
  • Incident Report: $15.00
  • Accident Report: $15.00
  • Police Employment Application Fee: $25

Please note: All fees for the gun permit due to the state are paid online. A link will be sent to you when you begin the registration process for your permit through the state website.

Gun Permit Requirements:

  • Live in the Town of New Chicago
  • Driver License MUST match your current address
  • Have your finger print card

Regular Vin Check Requirements:

  • Must live in the Town of New Chicago
  • VIN form completed
  • Title
  • Bill of Sale
  • $5.00 VIN Fee

We are not able to accept payment for traffic tickets at the police department. To pay a traffic ticket written by one of our officers, please visit:
